Jaliya is the name given to griots of West Africa - senior family members who carry the talent and tradition of drumming in the community. 

This group is for adults only. It is a mixed-arts group, designed to engage and challenge members with West African cultural elements.

It is expected the group will achieve high levels of drumming musicianship and perform regularly in public. We may also record our work too. It will be a high achieving group with a focus on becoming the best we can be.

Ubuntu means "I am because we are".  A person is a person through other people. It's about community, compassion, dignity, and mutual care.

This group is for anyone and everyone of any age. It is a drumming circle, incorporating movement and song. 

It's a family friendly, diversity-championing place to learn something new, grow in ability and socialise with other local people.

Tamala is a discovery of diversity and energy between people.  If you're aged 10-15, you've got to try it for yourself!

Join us for this fun-filled, creative exploration of rhythm through mixing West African Djembé rhythms, bell patterns, traditional songs and movement.

Members of this group can progress to Ubuntu or Jaliya. There is no limit to success in this house, only the limit you set yourself!

Ziriguidum is a Brazilian Portuguese onomatopoeic word that captures the joyful, swinging, rhythmic spirit of samba music.

This group's for being part of something HUGE.

Ubuntuquê is a hybrid of Ubuntu and the Brazilian 'quê'. As the name suggests, this group is a melting pot of African/Brazilian sounds.

This group is for adults only (exceptional juniors allowed). It's solely a drumming group, with emphasis on complex carnival rhythms.

It is expected the group will achieve high levels of musicianship and perform regularly in public. We may also record our work too. It will be a high achieving group with a focus on becoming the best we can be.

Ay Caramba! Another group! This time, it's a junior bateria to complement the Ziriguidum Samba School.

Junior members (usually aged 10-15) are encouraged to learn the basics of Samba bateria-style drumming and how the instruments work together in the band.

Explore how we can make musical arrangements, challenge ourselves with playing by ear and provide an infectious youthful carnival energy.
